 District Governor's Cabinet Officers Line-Up (Fy1997-1998)
& Retreat Activities

The formation of the cabinet line-up was very important as Lionism was all about teamwork.  Past President Kenny Koay and Past President Tan Team Chye were invited to be the Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Treasurer respectively. The other cabinet members were all past presidents from various active clubs.
The Cabinet comprised of 9 Region Chairmen, 21 Zone Chairmen, 48 District Chairmen, and 14 Region Committee Chairmen. All of them were officially invited to be in the cabinet with blessings and consent from their respective Home Clubs.

Past District Governor (PDG) Dr. Chin Yoon Hiap was appointed to serve in the District's Lions Eyes Bank which was an essential mainstay in Lionism. PDG S. T. Yeoh was appointed as the Honorary District Committee Chairman. Together, the wonderful team would administer the district which comprised the whole Peninsula Malaysia except the southern part of Johore which was part of 308A.

SCHOOL FOR REGION CHAIRMEN AND ZONE CHAIRMEN

On 19/7/1997 morning all Region Chairmen and Zone Chairmen met with the DG's team. This meeting was able to foster camaraderie and enhance team synergy. The team was allowed to engage in a collaborative brainstorming session, ensuring their collective efforts as a cohesive unit. Additionally, they deliberated on effective communication strategies and established clear objectives.
The same afternoon they attended a workshop organised by PCC Dr. Ong Tat Lien. Here they were briefed on their responsibilities in carrying out their duties.

PDG Dr. Ong Tat Lien conducted the Region/Zone Chairmen Workshop.

1ST CABINET MEETING - 20/7/1997 (8AM-5PM)

The Cabinet Meeting was held at the Crystal Ballroom, Bayview Beach Resort Hotel, Penang. We had two breaks for morning tea and afternoon lunch so that participants could relax more and be able to focus on the meeting.

We had a fruitful meeting and by the end of the day, the Lions were all equipped with instructions to carry out their responsibilities. They would take the initiative to meet the clubs in their respective regions and zones to deliver messages under their portfolios. The Lions would never fall short of speakers at their club meetings.

MEETING OF PAST OFFICERS OF THE LIONS ASSOCIATION (CAUCUS MEETING)

There was a belief that the best time to brainstorm one's mind was to do it during the wee hours of the morning. With this in mind and with the consultation of  Council Chairman Shiv Banerjee, a  POAs Meeting was called at 11.30pm. where all POAs attended. The agenda included bifurcation and follow-ups.
